Outdoor Ceremony – Ken Millen Stadium at Carlisle High School
Inclement Weather Change:
Outdoor commencement will be held in Ken Millen Stadium at Carlisle High School.
In the case of severe weather conditions, the Commencement ceremony will be moved indoors. A severe weather plan will be communicated to school community via website and email notification to the Class of 2027 by 1:00PM.
Tickets for indoor commencement are provided to students at the May 24th Senior Class Meeting. Students only receive 4 indoor tickets. This ensures that commencement meets local fire and occupancy codes.
Tickets:
General admission tickets are required for all guests to attend both indoor and outdoor ceremonies. Seating is first-come, first-serve basis. Each senior will receive a packet with tickets following our May 24th Senior Class Meeting. ONLY TICKET HOLDERS WILL BE PERMITED INTO THE COMMENCEMENT CEREMONY.
- Outdoor – 8 tickets per student
- Indoor – 4 tickets per student
Guest Admission:
Gates will open at 6:00PM for guests. Seating is available on a first-come, first-serve basis. The procession will begin around 6:45PM and seating of graduates will take place promptly at 7:00PM. The ceremony usually ends around 8:30PM.
Guest with Special Needs:
Seniors may exchange general admission tickets for handicapped accessible tickets. This may take place at our Senior Class Meeting on May 24th with School Security Staff or through the McGowan Main Office on May 25th-May 27th from 8:00AM-3:00PM. Handicapped accessible reserved seating will be provided for both the indoor and outdoor ceremonies.
Parking:
Limiting parking is available at Carlisle High School. Some areas of campus may have greater availability for parking; parking map. Accessible parking will be provided for outdoor ceremony. The parking lot adjacent to the Ken Millen Stadium will be reserved for accessible parking only (see map). This lot is located across from Gate 3. A handicapped accessible ticket or proper state issued Person with Disability Parking Placard are required to park in this lot.
Photographs:
Camera Box will once again will take photos of graduates as they process into stadium, as they receive their diplomas, and following the commencement ceremony. Camera Box will post a link on their website for ordering pictures. Camerabox.com
Livestream:
A live video stream of the commencement ceremony may be viewed via HERD TV website. The link will go live approximately one half hour prior to the scheduled event.
Cap and Gowns:
Student cap and gowns are ordered in January for commencement. Every student will be provided a cap and gown for graduation ceremony at no cost. Cap, gown and tassels will be distributed to students at the May 24th Senior Class Meeting provided the student has met all required obligations to participate in commencement ceremony. Seniors may keep their cap and gown.
Gowns are required for everyone participating in the academic procession and program. Qualifying students may wear approved graduation cords. More than one graduation cord may be worn at the same time. Students qualifying academically may wear honors medallion, which signifies this achievement. Members of various approved honor societies are eligible to wear assigned cords. Stoles are only permitted for class and student council officers. No other stoles, either academic or non-academic, are permitted without prior approval from the 12th grade Associate Principal and/or Carlisle High School Principal. Inappropriate decorations on caps and/or gowns must be removed prior to the ceremony.
Senior Check-in, Robing and Assembly
Seniors are expected to report to the McGowan Gymnasium by 5:30PM on May 27th for final attendance and check-in. Seniors should report with cap, gown and tassel. Seniors will be arranged according to their seating assignment. They will line-up and form two columns. Row marshals will lead the columns out to the stadium at approximately 6:45PM. The processional will continue at 7:00PM with seniors being escorted through honor guard. Seniors will then be seated in appropriate rows by their assigned row marshal.
Recessional and Diplomas
The ceremony will conclude with the conferring of degree by the Superintendent of Carlisle Area School District. This will end our formal ceremony. This is no formal recessional.
Graduates do not receive their actual diploma when crossing the stage. Graduates must report to the band concession stand area to pick up their diploma packet. This is located beneath the general admission seating. ONLY GRADEUATES are permitted to sign for their diploma packets. Indoor commencement location will be reviewed with the students at the May 24th senior meeting and during commencement rehearsal. Diplomas will be available for pick-up in the McGowan Main Office for those students that do not pick up their diploma following the ceremony.
